Netvention Inc. Awarded a U.S. Patent for its Information Extraction & Aggregation Technologies
Montreal, Canada July 15, 2004 -- Netvention is proud to announce that it has been granted its first patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (U.S. patent No. 6,694,307). The patent, entitled "A System for Collecting Specific Information from Several Sources of Unstructured Digitized Data", relates directly to the information extraction and aggregation framework developed by Netvention. More specifically, the patent describes the application of information extraction techniques to multiple data sources and the process of relating the extracted information to assemble a coherent information record. "In a typical implementation, the system collects business-related information (e.g., sales lead information) from many pages on the Web, and combines and correlates this data to provide complete contact information", explains Benoit Julien, President of Netvention.
"We are very pleased to have been awarded our first patent", says Tarik Qahawish, Sales & Marketing Director. "Our extraction technology has proven to be extremely successful, having already compiled over 2 million business records and over 3 million executive contacts exclusively from corporate web sites", he adds.
